OverseasSecurity.com is a unique website dedicated to providing security related information to individuals who travel or live abroad.  Our objective is to provide useful and timely security information to answer the question  "What Do I Need To Know To Make My Travel Safer?" We are a content-controlled "Members Only" website that reviews before posting all public and non-public security related information collected by our staff analysts, field correspondents, or Members. For a nominal monthly fee, Members have access to country specific and thematic reports that may be downloaded gratis for training purposes. Members may opt to receive country specific alerts via email should a major security incident occur, and content can also be pushed to your iOS device (iPhone / iPad) via our Mobile App.

OverseasSecurity.com is a companion company to Virtual Defense & Development International, Inc. or "VDI" (http://www.vddi.com), an international consulting company focused on matters of defense, law enforcement, security and intelligence, and international business development. Our current and past clients operate in low to high risk countries, and years ago asked us to develop a unique website to keep them aware of security related incidents that occur in the countries in which they operate, as well as advise them in ways in which to reduce the threat to their personnel and investment abroad. Until 2009, OverseasSecurity.com has been dedicated to existing VDI clients, and appeared on our clients PIN-protected Intranet for their use only. While we continue to have the capability to place OverseasSecurity.com on a corporate Intranet, brand it with the client's logo, and personalize it to reflect only those countries in which the client's company operates, we have opened OverseasSecurity.com to a wider audience in response to the many requests to do so.

For the first time, OverseasSecurity.com is available to private individuals who travel abroad, not just frequent corporate travelers, or corporate individuals who are assigned permanently abroad. Vacationers, infrequent travelers, students who study abroad, academics writing reports, researchers involved in security matters, instructors, diplomats, independent business representatives, and others who wish to learn more about security considerations before they depart, as well as once they arrive in-country, have the opportunity to become a Member of OverseasSecurity.com.

We collect and post security incidents on a daily basis. We have a team of dedicated analysts and content specialists retired from the CIA, FBI, and other government entities, as well as security professionals from the private-sector, who scan public and non-public sources daily. We look for security incidents that have or could affect foreigners; we search for crime trends; we monitor organized criminal gangs and how they operate; we watch for health and natural disaster threats; we track crime fighting initiatives to include new crime legislation; and the establishment of special units or task forces to mediate a particular crime problem.

Our Country Content icon will lead you to a Security Overview containing facts about the country. Our Country Security Report will provide you information you need to understand threats within the country in which you intend to travel. Our Security Incidents archive compiles all past security incidents so you can see firsthand the crime trends in the country of travel. And, our useful Web Links will direct you to additional helpful information.

We are driven by clients and Members. At present, we have built out 26 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with more to follow once we have in hand from new Members the countries which they wish OverseasSecurity.com to monitor.

We are hopeful you will give us a try; become a Member and contribute to improving the security of all fellow travelers.
